Unfortunately, the next scheduled round of the 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series at Palmyra Raceway has been cancelled.

The Palmyra Drag Racing Club took a vote as to whether to proceed with the event, and as Palmyra has already hosted a round of the 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series in this “Super Season” (2021-22-23), the decision was made by the club to not proceed with the event.

“I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to getting on the ground and meeting the racers at Palmyra”, 400 Thunder General Manager Jason Hedges said today. “However, The 400 Aeroflow Drag Racing Series will be back at Palmyra Raceway in the future, with positive discussions and planning already underway for next season’s event”, Hedges confirmed.

While the original schedule called for back-to-back 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series races at Palmyra Raceway and Springmount Raceway (Cairns), the standalone Springmount event on August 19 & 20 will carry a 50% bonus points loading for all competitors to help encourage participation.

In addition the 50% points bonus for 400 Thunder Aeroflow Sportsman Series competitors will also extend to the Grand Opening event at The Bend Dragway in South Australia on January 28 & 29, 2023  and also for the first 400 Thunder Aeroflow Series event to be held at Heathcote Park Raceway on February 11 & 12, 2023.

The maximum sportsman series points cap will remain at 400 points for all categories except for Junior Dragster which will be at 300, as their 2022-23 season will begin at Springmount Raceway. 

With the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars also appearing at the Cairns event, as well as all Performance and Sportsman categories within the 400 Thunder Series, North Queensland is about to rumble like never before!
