Hot on the heels of the current batch of Australian Champions being crowned last month, the just released 400 Thunder Sportsman 2018/2019 Australian Championship calendar has the series being contested across eight events stretching from August to June.

With significant growth in competitor numbers over the last season, interest in the 400 Thunder Australian Championship is expected to continue to grow over the coming season.

Round One kicks off at Springmount Raceway on the 5th of August with interest high from both southern and local competitors keen for the opportunity to race for the coveted gold and silver Christmas Tree trophies which are only available at 400 Thunder rounds.

Competing alongside of the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars, the 400 Thunder Sportsman competitors are assured to race in front of a bumper crowd of passionate North Queensland fans. The ground-pounding 4,000 horsepower machines have proved incredibly popular in the tropics. Their appearance will also include a ‘pit party’ with activities for the kids and a meet and greet with the Nitro Funny Car drivers.

The 400 Thunder Series then moves to Sydney Dragway for the East Coast Thunder on November 2-3 where the Sportsman racers will contest their second round in what promises to be an action filed event.

Round Three is the Jet Car & Sportsman Sportsman Thunder at Willowbank Raceway on December 1. This event will feature most Sportsman categories with the added attraction of four Jet Cars to spice things up even further for the fans.

Willowbank Raceway will then also host Round Four of the Australian Championships alongside of strong fields of professional categories at their New Year Thunder event on January 5.

The action returns to Sydney Dragway on January 19th for Round Five at the Summer Thunder with every Sportsman category on the program.

The Santos Super Thunder at Willowbank Raceway on April 19 (Good Friday) will again feature a Sportsman round of the 400 Thunder Australian Championships alongside Top Fuel, Pro Alcohol and Top Bike.

The penultimate round of both the Professional and Sportsman Series will take place at Sydney Dragway’s Nitro Thunder on May 3-4. Again all six Pro categories will be on track with six Sportsman brackets.

The Australian Championship grand final for every category of 400 Thunder Drag Racing occurs each season at the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway producing the largest drag racing event held anywhere in the world outside the USA. The 2019 edition of the iconic event will run over four days from June 6 to 9.

The 2018/2019 Sportsman Championship promises to be hotly contested and action packed.
