It has been revealed today that the 400 Thunder Drag Racing Series and Calder Park Drag Racing Management have been in discussion over the last several weeks for a 400 Thunder event to occur within the 2019/2020 Championship Series Calendar at the Melbourne venue.

The 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series is strongly committed to an expansion program throughout Australia and has been targeting an event in Victoria for some time.Untitled design

Melbourne’s Calder Park along with other Victorian venues have been under consideration and an event at the former is highly likely to occur in the 2019 / 2020 Calendar.

Newly appointed General Manager of 400 Thunder, Steve Bettes, said “Our discussions with Calder Park Drag Racing are ongoing and we have been informed of a range of upgrades planned. When the facility is available and ready to host Australian Drag Racing’s premier series, we will be there with our professional teams to make a great impact for the sport again in Melbourne”.

400 Thunder currently has six major events on its Professional Calendar which are conducted at two of Australia’s premier drag racing facilities (Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway outside of Brisbane) and the addition of Melbourne’s Calder Park  will be very significant for all stakeholders.

400 Thunder will also be announcing its Sportsman Calendar shortly with eight events listed across Springmount Raceway in North Queensland, Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway. It’s very likely a Calder Park event could also be added to the sportsman schedule.
